Filling out all the options in your Google Business Profile positively impacts its visibility in Google Search and Maps. An important element of the profile is the product sections: Products, Services, or Menu. These allow customers to quickly learn about your offerings. See how to add and edit them.

What Are the Products, Services, and Menu Sections in Google Business Profile?

Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) provides three sections for showcasing your offerings: Products, Services, and Menu.

  • Products section allows you to showcase physical and digital products or your store’s assortment.
  • Services section is designed for service-based businesses, such as beauty salons, car repair shops, dietitian offices, consulting firms, etc.
  • Menu section is available for restaurants, cafés, and other food establishments.

The section that appears on your profile depends on the business category you select. You can view and configure it accordingly.

Products Section in Google Business Profile – Key Information

The Products section in Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business Products) is used to showcase physical goods (e.g., electronics, clothing, toys) and digital products (e.g., online courses). However, not all products can be listed. Certain categories are prohibited, including alcohol, tobacco, gambling-related items, uncertified pharmaceuticals, and erotic products.

Follow these guidelines when adding products:

  • The product name can be up to 58 characters long.
  • The product description can have up to 1,000 characters (avoid duplicating content from your website!).
  • The image should be at least 720×720 pixels, with a recommended size of 1200×900 pixels.
  • You can set a fixed price or a price range.
  • You can add a CTA button (e.g., “Order Online”) with a link to the product page.

How to Add Products to Your Google Business Profile?

1. Log in to the Google Business Profile dashboard.

2. Select the appropriate business profile.

3. Go to the “Edit Products” section.

4. Fill out the form, adding all necessary details: image, name, category, price, description, and CTA link.

5. Click “Publish.”

The added information will appear on your profile within 48 hours of publishing. To edit or remove a product, return to the Products section, select the item, and click Edit or Delete.

  • To improve product visibility in search results, use keywords in product names and descriptions.
  • Additionally, group products into logical categories for better organization.
  • Sometimes, Google’s verification bot may automatically reject products. If this happens, try changing the image or description and re-add the product. If the issue persists, check how to contact Google support.

Don’t worry about the order of products displayed on your profile—you cannot control it. Google randomly arranges products and may show them differently to different users.

How to add products in a Google Business Profile for a chain of stores?

Google Business Profile does not offer an option to add products for a chain of stores from the panel, but there are other solutions.

  1. Integration with Google Merchant Center (option recommended by Google)

Connect your Google Merchant Center and Business Profile accounts, and then create a Local Inventory Feed (a CSV file with products for each location). Fill in the required columns: store code, product ID, name, description, price, link, and image.

  1. External tools

Utilize external software, such as GMBapi.com or AmpiFire, to generate CSV files for import.

  1. Manual editing

Download the CSV template from the Business Profile panel, make the changes, and import the updated file.

Services Section on the Google Business Profile – What You Need to Know

The Services section in Google Business Profile allows businesses to describe physical or virtual services, such as repairs, consultations, and treatments. There are certain limitations. You cannot promote gambling, erotic content, or medical services provided without the required certifications.

Services in the Google Business Profile can be organized according to its main category and additional categories that you choose from Google’s closed list (you cannot add a “custom” category). The following rules apply when creating entries:

  • The service name can contain a maximum of 58 characters,
  • The service description can have up to 300 characters including spaces,
  • The price is optional; you can provide a fixed amount or a range,
  • There is the possibility to group services into categories (e.g., Consultations). 

 How to add services to a single Google Business Profile listing?

  1. Log in to your Business Profile and select a location.
  2. Go to the Edit Services tab.
  3. Choose a service.
  4. Add a short description and specify the price.
  5. Click Save.

You can choose services from Google’s predefined list or create custom ones tailored to your business. The profile data will be updated within 48 hours. If you want to edit or remove a service, simply go back to the Edit Services tab, select the item, and click Edit or Remove.

How to add services on Google for multiple business locations?

Although the Profile does not offer a built-in option for bulk editing services for multiple locations, there are some solutions: integration with the Google Business Profile API or the use of external tools.

To increase the visibility of services in search results, just like with products, use keywords in the descriptions (e.g., plumber Krakow). Google automatically blocks services that contain phone numbers, URLs, or vulgarities.

Menu Section on the Google Business Profile – an Option for the Food and Beverage Industry

The Menu is a section intended for restaurants, cafes, and other dining venues. The promotion of alcohol and tobacco products is prohibited. The publishing rules for menu items are similar to those for Products and Services:

  • The dish name can contain up to 140 characters including spaces,
  • The description can have up to 1000 characters,
  • The price is mandatory,
  • Photos should be at least 720×720 pixels, although the recommended format is 1200×900 pixels,
  • You can indicate dietary requirements for a menu item, e.g., vegetarian or vegan options.

Note! Photos added to menu items are immediately included in the gallery and do not always appear in the Menu section. Google is rolling this out gradually, so don’t worry if after uploading a photo of a dish it doesn’t appear where it should.

How to add a menu on the Google Business Profile?

  1. In the Business Profile, select the Edit Menu option.
  2. Add individual menu items with their descriptions and prices.
  3. Group the items into sections (e.g., appetizers, main courses, beverages).

In the USA, the Google Business Profile may alternatively generate a menu based on a photo of your menu card using artificial intelligence. This solution is not yet available in Poland, and in the American market you can use the following instructions:

  1. Go to the Menu Photos section in Edit Menu.
  2. Select a photo of your menu.
  3. Click the Generate Menu option.
